Supply & Fit BAR & MIXER Showers

Supply & Fit ELECTRIC Showers

Not Sure What Type Of Shower Can Be Fitted ? No Mad Panic - We Can Help

First of all we need to identify Your current system and to then match that up with the appropriate shower Solution. We will then go onto the wiring and pipe work requirements for the Solutions

Gravity feed hot water cylinder with the cold water supply tank in the loft or above the cylinder in your airing cupboard.Must have the bottom of the cold water tank at least.. 100cm above the shower head on your shower the flow from the showerhead is just about bearable. If your intended shower is going to be on the ground floor and your cylinder and tank is on the first floor or in the loft then you will get a good flow rate. If the shower head is at the same level as the cold water tank - you will require an additional shower pump to increase the flow rate to your shower.

Pressurised hot water cylinder. This cylinder is usually white and has no cold water tank above it. It will have a red expansion tank fitted inside the cupboard or fitted internally inside the cylinder. The cold water supply is fed directly from the main water supply. This cylinder can be heated independently via an electric heating element or connected to a boiler .This system gives good water pressure for hot water. The hot and cold water pipes can be connected to the shower from under the bath, from behind the hand basin or taken anywhere on the system where pipes are accessible.

Combi Boiler. If you can count 5 or more pipes coming out from the bottom of your boiler then this is more than likely a combi boiler. There may be a separate pressurised hot water cylinder attached to the combi boiler - This will give a good water flow rate at the shower.

This system gives good water pressure for hot water. The hot and cold water pipes can be connected to the shower from under the bath, from behind the hand basin or taken anywhere on the system where pipes are accessible.

Now that we have identified the system you have in place  - We need to identify the services required in order to operate the solutions.

MIXER SHOWER & BAR SHOWER

Hot water supply taken directly from the system that is linked to a gravity feed or pressurised hot water cylinder or combi boiler.

Cold water supply taken directly from the system that is linked to the mains water supply or a cold water storage tank. The cold water storage tank should be of sufficient height above the shower head to provide sufficient gravity pressure to balance the shower valve.

POWER SHOWER

Hot water supply taken directly from the system that is linked to a gravity feed hot water cylinder AND THE GRAVITY FEED Cold water tank. The cold water storage tank should be of sufficient height above the shower unit to provide sufficient gravity pressure to operate the shower unit.

Electric Supply A fused switched spur will be required to be taken from the ring main to operate the pump inside the power shower.

ELECTRIC SHOWER

Cold water supply taken directly from the system that is linked to the rising cold main.

Electric Supply is taken directly from the consumer unit on a dedicated fuse way. Connected to the electric shower via a suitably rated ceiling pull cord or wall mounted switch.

PUMPED ELECTRIC SHOWER

Cold water supply taken directly from the system that is linked to the THE GRAVITY FEED Cold water tank.

Electric Supply is taken directly from the consumer unit on a dedicated fuse way. Connected to the electric shower via a suitably rated ceiling pull cord or wall mounted switch.

SHOWER PUMP (Positive Head)

Hot water supply taken directly from the system that is linked to a gravity feed hot water cylinder AND THE GRAVITY FEED Cold water tank. The cold water storage tank should be of sufficient height above the shower head to provide sufficient gravity pressure to operate the PUMP unit. Not being able to achieve the required distance between the bottom of the tank and the shower head will require a negative head pump.

Electric Supply A fused switched spur will be required to be taken from the ring main to operate the pump

BATH FILLER TAP + SHOWER

Hot water supply taken directly from the system that is linked to a gravity feed or pressurised hot water cylinder or combi boiler.

Cold water supply taken directly from the system that is linked to the mains water supply or a cold water storage tank. The cold water storage tank should be of sufficient height above the shower head to provide sufficient gravity pressure to balance the shower valve.Must have access underneath bath to remove old taps and replace with bath filler mixer with shower.
